I love this years Halloween theme Night Gallery. Although Rogers Gardens is primarily a nursery where you can find a huge variety of the finest plant materials, they are also very supportive of the arts. On a daily basis you can come in and see beautiful plein air paintings by some of the area’s best artists and our Collectibles Room houses original works of art year round. These collectible artisans also create amazing pieces that are inspired by Halloween, some being exclusively Halloween artists. This years theme puts the spotlight on these talented people and also has been a great creative outlet for the Visual Merchandising Staff. We have been very fortunate and honored to include the following artists in our display.

Scott Smith

Scott Smith is a full time artist working from his Rucus Studio in Michigan.  He is fascinated by antiques and loves the notion of giving life to something that once had a purpose, but whose time has run out.  Each of his curious and unpredictable characters is shaped by his inspired imagination.  They are made from an original sculpture and finished with a variety of materials.

Nicol Sayre

Nicol is a self-taught artist and creates at her home studio in California.  Her figures and dolls are reminiscent of her passion for collecting antique dolls, toys, vintage fabrics, trims and household implements.  It is from these collections that she draws her inspiration.  Each of her one-of-a-kind papier-mâché dolls is made by hand, clothed in vintage fabrics and completed with handmade or collectible accessories.

Joyce Stahl

Joyce is a full time Halloween artist from Ohio with a background in theatre and a love of Halloween.  She spent many years as an illustrator and muralist before conjuring up her ‘Little Enchanted Ones’.  Joyce works with fine fabrics, antique lace, vintage buttons, wool, and paints to create her mischievous cast of frightfully delightful characters.

Bethany Lowe

Bethany Lowe, a self-taught artist, has been designing for over 25 years.  Her original one-of-a-kind creations are based on folk-art legends inspired by her vivid imagination and life experiences.  Each piece is hand sculpted, painted, and dressed in costumes using vintage fabrics and trims that she has collected from around the world.

 Allen Cunningham

Allen’s love of vintage storybooks set the stage for his imaginative doll creations.  His sculpted characters are handmade from paper clay and each piece is impeccably dressed then finished with handmade accessories.  Allen creates a variety of dolls; however he is especially fond of creating Halloween figures.

 Mullanium

Husband and wife team Jim and Tory collaborate in their Pompano Beach studio.  Their mixed media folk art incorporates vintage toys including blocks, bocce balls and croquet balls.  Their fascination with birds, nature and antiques is present in their vast collection of vintage hardware and watches.

 Wendy Addison

Californian artisan, Wendy Addison combined her love of art and antiques and began to create what she called “objects for an imaginary life.”  Her creations combine her love and passion for antique materials, vintage crepe paper, silver glass glitter, old sheet music, and tarnished tinsel.  She is the Queen of Vintage Paper.

Vergie Lightfoot

Vergie has been creating original art for over 24 years and has always had a great passion for Halloween.  As she experimented with different mediums she created what are now known as, ‘Ole Soul Pumpkins’.   They are all made by hand and no two ever look alike.  Each masterpiece takes countless hours to create, with each having its own unique expression.

 Vaillancourt

Known for reviving the lost Victorian art form of chalkware, Vaillancourt Folk Art has adapted the process of creating Chalkware with their own contemporary method. Operating in their Sutton, Massachusetts studios since 1984, Judi Vaillancourt was the first to pour solid chalkware into antique chocolate moulds and paint the resulting three-dimensional canvas with oil paints.

Debbee Thibault

Debbee Thibault is most well known for her American Collection of collectable toys. She began making toys in 1985 and creates unique hand painted characters crafted from paper mache.
