Vergie Lightfoot announced at the age of nine that when she grew up she would be an artist and live in the mountains. Although she has always made things, her career as an artist started when she was 29. Then, in the spring of 1995, she moved to the mountains and has been there ever since.
One of her favorite sayings is “Imagine such a thing.” It is curious how an idea takes shape once conceived and how magically the process proceeds until the piece is born. If her work inspires people and brings them enjoyment, then she, as an artist, feels that she has done her job.
Halloween and Christmas hold special meaning to her because they give me the opportunity to express the child-like feelings she had as a child. She hopes that you will enjoy seeing the holidays through her eyes.
