Mini Roses
|
Mini roses are dwarf hybrids of standard roses. Their
small size make mini roses especially well suited for indoor use,
but they may be grown outside as well.
Water
Never let the soil dry out completely. Keep the soil moist but not saturated.
Temperature
Indoors, mini roses grow best between 62° and 72°.
Outdoors, mini roses are very hardy and can
survive temperatures below freezing.
Light
Indoors, keep your mini rose in the sunniest
location possible. Outdoors they will thrive in full sun.
Feed
Use Roger's Flower Food at half strength every three weeks from March to October.

Repotting
When your mini rose has outgrown its original container, it may be transplanted to a
larger pot and moved to a sunny patio or deck location. It can also be planted directly in
the ground. Use a container that is just a few inches wider and deeper when shifting your
rose to a larger pot.
|
Pruning
Prune your rose in January. This is also the ideal time to do any transplanting.
|
Diseases and pests
Powdery mildew can disfigure mini rose flowers and foliage. Avoid getting foliage
and flowers wet when watering, and keep plants spaced far apart from one another to allow
for good air circulation.
Insects such as thrip, red spider mites, aphids and worms can be treated with a product
that is formulated for that specific insect and recommended for roses.
