Steve Goto is a third generation nurseryman and well known for his famous tomato seminars and tomato tasting events held at Roger’s Gardens for more than 15 years. His broad range of experience as a grower spans from annuals, ornamentals, orchids to vegetables, which he specializes in. He is also well known as an expert in soil health, soil biology and organic gardening.
Steve’s background is in banking. He turned in his financial savviness into gardening knowledge. Steve developed an educational program to aid beginning and experienced gardeners with growing techniques. He was president of a Southern California’s growing operation before running his family’s nursery business. Steve’s brainchild was “Gotomato,” where he grew over 900 different varieties of heirloom and hybrid tomatoes for evaluation and sale in Southern California. He is well known and has a long term reputation for his seminars in the western United States.
Recently, Steve has ventured off into high technology farming and developed an organic tomato program in a limited environment without the benefit of sunlight.
Steve’s gardening passions are any vegetables (especially tomatoes), plumeria, orchids and cyclamens.
